Last night I saw an old episode of America’s funniest videos and it was so hysterical. I did not think that this show would be funny because I have not seen it in almost 10 years but it was funnier than I remembered. I am making my mother an embroidered pillow for her birthday. It has a rose design on it and a quote about motherhood that I think she will like. The quote says “It is not until you become a mother that your judgment slowly turns to compassion and understanding.” It is from Erma Bombeck, which is one of her favorite writers.
I drew the rose design very faintly on the pillow first, and wrote the quote in very lightly with a fine-pointed indelible marker. I also practiced writing the quote out several times before I wrote on the pillow fabric. I also did three versions of the design on pillow fabric, and then picked the best one to use as the template for my embroidery project. It did not come out 100% perfect, but it looks really good, and I think a little imperfection goes well with a quote about motherhood.
